The Palermo neighborhood is synonymous with nightlife in Buenos Aires. The reputation that has grown around this neighborhood for its nighttime activity is no myth or legend. For this reason, many foreigners know even before arriving in Buenos Aires that Palermo is the go-to spot for entertainment and nightlife.

However, Palermo is a neighborhood with varying atmospheres and activities across its streets. Therefore, you have different entertainment options depending on the “cardinal point” you head towards. Here, we highlight the most popular areas to experience and enjoy the nightlife in Palermo.

Nightlife in Palermo (Buenos Aires): The Most Popular Areas of the Neighborhood

Plaza Serrano

Plaza Serrano is a classic meeting point for nightlife in Palermo. Even for those who don’t live near Plaza Serrano or in the neighborhood itself, Plaza Serrano is one of the most popular places to visit, whether to go to a bar or as a prelude to hitting a nightclub.

Around Plaza Serrano, you’ll find numerous bars: breweries, cocktail spots, and even venues that transform into nightclubs after midnight. You can also choose from American, Argentine, and even vegan restaurants.

The atmosphere at Plaza Serrano is infused with music, lively chatter, and the lights of the bars surrounding the plaza. But the fun extends to the adjacent streets, whether you head north, south, east, or west.

Plaza Armenia

Plaza Inmigrantes de Armenia is just three blocks from Plaza Serrano. It’s another key spot in Palermo where both tourists and locals converge at night.

This plaza is just one block from Avenida Scalabrini Ortiz, and surrounding it are bars, cafes, and restaurants that stay open late. Its proximity to Plaza Serrano makes it easy to plan an evening that includes both locations.

Cocktail bars coexist with cafes, Argentine barbecue restaurants, Mexican cuisine spots, and even Caribbean food joints, among many other options.

Avenida Juan Bautista Justo

Avenida Juan Bautista Justo marks the boundary between two areas of Palermo: Palermo Hollywood to the north and Palermo Soho to the south. Here, nightlife thrives along the entire avenue, from its intersection with Avenida Córdoba to Avenida Santa Fe.

Along Avenida Juan Bautista Justo and in the surrounding areas, bars and nightclubs continuously draw in locals and tourists alike. Additionally, the presence of the Metrobus on this avenue contributes to the high flow of people and makes getting to the area even easier.

The highest concentration of nightclubs and dance clubs in Palermo can be found at the boundary between Palermo Hollywood and Palermo Soho, making it a go-to option if you’re looking to enjoy a night of dancing.

Palermo Viejo

Palermo Viejo is perhaps the less “touristy” part of the neighborhood. However, it is considered one of the most popular areas to live in due to its excellent amenities and conveniences.

Bars, breweries, restaurants, and some nightclubs open their doors every night to welcome locals and tourists. The main advantage of this area in Palermo is that it’s not overly crowded, mainly because it’s not a major thoroughfare for vehicles.

The key spots in this part of Palermo include Honduras Street, Avenida Córdoba, and Plaza Unidad Latinoamericana.
