How we verify experts
Last updated September 2026. This page is provided in good faith and is subject to professional legal review before commercial launch.
This page describes the checks we carry out before a professional appears on Expat Pathways with a Verified label, and the limits of what verification signals to visitors.
Checks required before a verified listing
- Confirmation of the professional's identity and stated organisation.
- Confirmation that the professional appears on the relevant public regulator’s register at the point of listing, where applicable. Professional-body membership (for example CIOT membership) is distinct from regulatory permission and must not be presented as equivalent.
- Confirmation of the qualifications listed on the profile against issuing bodies or awarding organisations where these are publicly verifiable.
- Check the exact legal entity, service permissions and any restrictions relevant to the jurisdictions in which it proposes to serve clients. A register entry alone does not establish permission to advise every expat worldwide.
- A conflicts and complaints declaration signed by the professional.
What "verified" means
A Verified label confirms that at the time of the check the professional appeared on the stated register and provided qualifications that we were able to corroborate. It is not:
- an endorsement of the quality of advice given in any specific matter;
- a guarantee of outcome, response time or fee;
- a recommendation by Expat Pathways to engage the professional in preference to any other;
- an assessment of the professional's ongoing insurance or business continuity arrangements.
Sample data is not a professional listing
Illustrative sample profiles are excluded from public discovery and profile pages. A professional must not receive a verified label merely because a profile has been created or an application has been approved. Verification requires documented evidence of the checks described above.
Ongoing review
Register status and permissions can change after a check. Before engaging a professional, check the current official register and confirm the service and countries its permissions cover. Our operating process must record check dates, review deadlines and evidence, and withdraw listings when a material concern is identified.
Reporting a concern
If you have reason to believe a listed professional's information is inaccurate, please contact us via the contact page. We investigate promptly and take action where warranted.
